Next stop: Kathmandu!

Dear loved ones and unwavering supporters,

Many of you know that I am a global soul and I have a heart for developing countries, particularly places were human rights abuses are overlooked or excused. As I prepare to study South Asian Governance, Law and Rights at University of Washington, I have felt God tugging at me to take an action that would better prepare me for the life he has called me to. I was looking for something completely different than the opportunity that found me, but that is often how God works.

A Broader View.org is placing me in Kathmandu, Nepal for a four-week internship in July. I will volunteer to provide job skills training to impoverished women and populations that are at high risk for human trafficking. As many of you know, I have worked with the International Justice Mission and Not For Sale Campaign in an effort to raise awareness about and fight against precisely these kinds of practices. This is my opportunity to be with the very people whose lives are affected by the threat of human trafficking, and women who are vulnerable because of their socio-economic status.

Beyond that, I think it will be healthy for me to live without creature comforts such as air conditioning for the summer (some of you know how difficult that is for me!) I see this not just as an opportunity to meet someone else’s need, but a way to be challenged and stretched that I may better know myself and my spirit.

I will be updating a blog regularly. You can find me at http://www.blogger.gypsyletitia.com. I crave your thoughts and prayers. Talk about what I am doing. Share it with a family member. Learn about the root causes behind trafficking, sex slavery and involuntary servitude. This is the most important thing you can do.

If you feel so led, at this time of great financial need in our country, I would also appreciate monetary support. I will not be receiving an income during my time in Kathmandu. Please spend some time considering if you can assist me, and how much you feel led to contribute. All donations are tax deductible, since ABV is a 501c3 nonprofit.

Please send checks to

I feel so blessed to have all of you as friends and family and supporters. Please read my blog and keep up with my activities as I seek to put my passion into practice, and live sacrificially.
